Our Story

Where It All Began

The McGuinness family opened Charlies Creole Kitchen aka Dodies in 1989. Charlies Creole Kitchen blends Creole & New Orleans cooking perfectly. Our recipes are made from scratch and come from family recipes that Aunt Lou-Lou, Aunt Daisy, Aunt Susan, and Mireille Lanusse McGuinness crafted over the years. Our chef has been preparing these delicious meals for over 30 years. You don’t have to go to New Orleans to get authentic Creole cooking.

You can live in any city in America, but New Orleans is the only city that lives in you.”

– Chris Rose

Our Chef Mauricio

What People are Saying

“A Great Find”

I never write reviews, but I felt the need to tell everyone how amazing this place is. I had the shrimp and grits with some bread pudding for dessert, and honestly, it is the most authentic creole cuisine I’ve had in my time here in Dallas. Originally from New Orleans, I can guarantee you won’t find any place better without actually going to the Bayou. Every bite was an immediate trip home for me, and I cannot praise the chefs enough.
